Concert Review: Maroon 5 01/06/2015

On Monday the 1st of June at Manchester Arena me and my boyfriend went to see Maroon 5. We bought standing tickets, because I wanted to be as close to the man I've had a crush on since I was 12 (good for me not so good for the boyfriend). We started queuing at 5:30 ish and were towards the front of the queue at the entrance above Victoria train station. (I apologise in advance for bad picture quality).
We entered the venue then waited for our wristbands ect and then eagerly waited for the second opening act, Magic! They were really good, reggae beats that got everyone slowly on their feet and moving. Very chilled music calmed atmosphere of elbowing and running to get to the front. They played the well known hit 'Rude' and everyone was singing along. Their singer (Nasri) had a good stage presence and the quality of the beats could be heard without your eardrums being blown by the huge speakers.Overall, a really good support I wouldn't pay to see them on a solo tour, as their stuff isn't really for me.

Then came Maroon 5. They sang a great set, much like The Fray did in my review. They mixed up old new and classics that were real crowd pleasers and hits. With at least one song from each album and one song everyone could sing along to. Their universal set was something your granny can sing along to 'She Will Be Loved' or your 5 year old brother/sister can try and singing along to 'Sugar'. Everyone around me was singing their heads off with Adam. The age range of the audience ranged from 12 year olds to families and women in their 40's having a gals night. They even played Adam's solo hit with Gymn Class Heroes 'Stereo Hearts'.

(that's right bae look into my eyes)

I was a little apprehensive about Adam's vocals after them having to cancel the gig at Liverpool on doctors orders to rest. His performance on Alan Carr's Chatty Man made me fret even more his vocals were raw and he sounded well I hate to say it but he sounded bad. My fears were put to rest when he sang the opening notes and his voice consistently held up and was powerful as he hit his high falsetto notes. His voice sounded even better than records live and you can't ask for much more than that. The involvement of all the band members at the guitarists joined Levine and he praised them all individually during a song change. The rocked the arena and Adam worked the stage well as did the other mobile band members. They made full use of the run way and extra stage in the shape of a V.

We weren't squished in the arena even though the standing area looked full there was room to move without poking someone in the eye.

Being so close to Adam Levine stole the night for me, my ovaries exploded.

Overall 4/5 (It'd be 5/5 if the tickets hadn't been so expensive. £50 with booking fees was more than a little steep when most gigs there cost no more than £35.)

After a year of amazing concerts this will be my last until V Festival in August, and I couldn't think of a better concert to finish it on.

Thanks for reading,
