Skins story:
I thought I'd start of with some of my skin history, like an essay you need to have some context.
I've suffered from acne since my early teens the bad skin began when I was 12 and used every soap and face wash under the sun to clear it. After trying as much as the high street could offer me it was time to go to the doctors. I visited my GP at 13 and he said I had acne and put me on a spot treatment called Duac. Duac is a very strong scream I applied every night in order to combat spots. After using the cream for 3 months my skin began to clear. After a year and half of using the treatment my acne died down a lot. Only a year or so ago did I finally manage to clear the last of my acne. My skin still breaks out if I use certain products. I still suffer from oily skin but there's no miracle matte moisturiser so I just gotta carry powder and blotting tissues with me.
With that boring bit over here's my skin care routine.
Morning:
1. I use the Clearasil automatic dispensing cleanser. It just saves on time and is more hygienic, if you put your hand under the dispenser, it'll dispense enough product this means less wastage. I use a flannel and warm water to rinse my face first and open my pores, I then get some cleanser and massage it into my face. Washing it off with warm water and a flannel. The cleanser doesn't strip my skin and the cucumber extracts are great for my sensitive skin. Or sometimes I exfoliate using porridge oats I grab a handful wet them with a very small amount of water and rub them into the skin. The milky water acts as a moisturising and cleansing agent and the oats exfoliate and stimulate my skin.
2. I moisturise using the Lacura Brightening Moisturiser for sensitive skin from Aldi. The moisturizer is light and sinks in very quickly. I need a brightening moisturizer for during the day as sometimes I find my skin looking dull. It doesn't make my skin oily and gives a little bit of glow to my rather dull skin. The glow part is produced by the shimmery particles in the cream. It has a very nice citrus smell. If you can't get a hold of this I used Simple's Brightening Moisturiser which you can get in Boots and Superdrug. It's a little pricy but lasted me months.
3. I use the Garnier Roll-On, I apply it to my dark circles and around the outsides of my eyes, It cools and soothes my already tired eyes and reduces puffiness. It might be a gimmick but it relieves my eyes so no complaining. PS. Home Bargains have a cheaper alternative for 99p does the same job.
4. I use 100% tea tree oil which you can get from the Poundshop or in chemists and Boosts/ Superdrug. I get a few drops in the palm of my hands and rub it together then all over my face rather than directly to spots I use it as a spot treatment and prevention. (Two birds one stone).
That concludes my morning routine. I don't tone after my cleanse in the morning as it strips my skin too much and dries it out a lot.
Evening:
1. I remove my makeup using the Garnier 2in1 Eye & Face Make Up Remover (from Home Bargains & Body Care) applying a few dabs of the solution onto two cloth re-washable eye pads (cause I'm an Eco-warrier). You could use cotton pads if you prefer. I place one on each eye and then wait 30 seconds and wipe each eye if there's any product left. Such as panda eyes I will go back and gently wipe my eyes trying not to tug the skin.
2. I then cleanse with the same cleanser mentioned previously in the morning routine or Tea Tree Foaming Mousse from Home Bargains.
3. I then tone using the witch-hazel solution from Home Bargains again, to remove any dirt or makeup I might have missed because leaving makeup on your skin is a number one cause for spots and acne outbreaks, on me at least. Witch-hazel and tea tree are two main ingredients used in acne or spot treatments they act as antiseptic which removes bad bacteria from the skin which is one common cause of spots. Witch-hazel also calms and soothes the skin, taking any redness down.
4. I then apply a generous layer of Sudocrem. Which is my night time spot treatment and prevention. This baby pot was from B&M Bargains better than the bigger ones as it's travel size I can take it anywhere. My skin is sensitive and this results in breakouts. The only thing that has kept them at bay is Sudocrem and the Tea Tree Oil in the morning. (Prepare to look very pale though).
5. I then apply Lacura Facial Oil. Although my skin is oily naturally it still needs a burst of moisture at night as I get horrible dry patches which all makeup clings to. This dosen't make my skin greasy or oily it leaves me with baby butt cheeks.
6. I moisturise my face with Olay Double Action Moisturising Gel for oily/ combo skin from Home Bargains This is still a light moisturiser but does the trick well. It's heavier than the simple one by far, but sinks in quickly and doesn't leave my skin oily in the slightest. It's jelly like consistency is weird at first but sinks in faster than any moisturiser I've had before. It helps combat my oily skin and notice my skin is fairly matte in the morning.
7. I use the Simple Kind To Eyes Soothing Eye Balm. It sinks in fast and keeps my eyes hydrated preventing puffy and dry irritated eyes.
