Confessions of a Hoarder

Hoarding is a general term for a behavior that leads people or animals to accumulate food or other items during periods of scarcity.

So I thought it was about time to let you behind the scenes to delve into some of my personal issues, as you can see from the title I have a slight problem with hoarding. Fortunately it’s not as bad as the people you see on the TV, where they can’t get even get into their own bathroom. However my obsession with keeping new items in their packaging over a duration of time, I feel needs to be nipped in the bud.
So let’s start from the beginning, I’ve always had the habit of keeping new trainers in the box since I was a younger, I suppose you could say it has had a knock on effect as I now do this with mostly everything I purchase. From trainers, to clothes, to bags, to heels and so on…they all sit in their brand new state in the corner of my room building up a mini barricade. I only start to use the items usually a couple of months after buying them, I have no exact explanation for this but I do myself have some theories. I believe that I enjoy keeping things new and I also get enjoyment out of seeing multiple shopping bags, as it fulfils my addiction to shop. When these bags slowly get emptied I then feel the need to shop again, which of course is such a bad habit but it’s something I want to stop! I have recently tried to resolve this problem, I went through most of the bags and put them away properly, also to help out with my money situation I have downloaded Depop, which is an app where you can sell items you no longer want, its similar to both Instagram and eBay.
I hope you enjoyed my mini confession, and I also hope I will eventually get out of this habit towards the near future.
Thanks for reading,
Kiana
