So I head to Birmingham to stay at my friend from university's house for five days in order to go to Wireless. Which will be my first festival, Wireless is a non-camping festival hence why I'm staying at hers and breaking my concert virginity in brummyland. Not knowing what to pack but luckily enough being surrounded by people who are pros at it and have been going to festivals for years. So I asked my friends and compiled this list.
- An emergency poncho. Located in the camping section of most places, I got mine from ASDA for £1.50, and bought three one for each day I'm there. I got told people throw bottles of pee and beer if it's cold its beer if it's warm it's pee you don't want that on your expensive kimono big nono. If it rains throw this bad boy on and you're good to go, you could take an umbrella but it blocks people's views of the stages and people rip them down I'm told.
- Sunglasses / Normal glasses (if you need them) sunglasses are a must who wants to squint whilst trying to watch Drake? Normal glasses if you don't want him to look like a blurred dot on stage and in case you're not at the front!
- Hand sanitizer for the loos because they're not nice at the best of times. Better safer than sorry.
- Bog roll/ a pack of tissues one of my friends recommended to just take a roll of toilet roll.
- An old phone, you don't want your snazzy smart phone to get stolen then you're left with no phone to contact anyone in case of an emergency.
- A camera and batteries, you need to take pictures just in case you take a brick with no camera you need something to record the memories. A disposable one could be a good option if you're able to get to the front easier at other smaller festivals possibly.
- Clothes, something you can wear rain or shine, shorts and tights thick and thin.
- Wellies, it will be muddy and most likely rain.
- Money in a bra or place that isn't easy to reach like your shoes bags and pockets get slashed for the smallest amounts so just be aware and careful with where you place your money.
- Hipflask/ alcohol it wouldn't be a festival without booze. I'll drink before the festival not during, I've paid £180 for my ticket and want to remember every second. I'm also in a strange place I've never been before so I want to have my senses around me. But by all means be merry if that's your style.
- Finally a small medical kit, plasters for blisters, Imodium for dodgy food you'll be eating and paracetamol and ibuprofen for those loud amp speaker induced headaches or sore feet.
Remember stay safe and don't drink too much!
Enjoy,
Bekka
