Budget beauty is right up any students street, you can't be buying all MAC makeup at university unless you get a hella big loan/ grant and are working (or have a very very rich and kind boyfriend). Most of my beauty items are from the drug store / high street if not they're cast offs from friends or family who didn't like the product. As a thrifty person I'll try anything if it's free and in general I try to save money where I can. What's the point in paying a fortune for something that's only going to be wiped off at the end of the day, and another product at half the price does the same job if not better. Literally money down the sink. So here's my budget beauty face of the day I was going to Manchester with my boyfriend for the day and it was raining so I needed my slap to last all day which it did.
Budget Base Basics:
1. 17 Miracle Matte Primer I have oily skin so a primer is essential. It claims to last 22 hours, I wouldn't say that long but I had my makeup on from 9:30AM until 7pm and it looked unchanged.
2. Revlon ColorStay in 250 Fresh Beige and the oily to combination skin formula buffed in with the Real Techniques buffing brush I skipped concealer as I didn't have many blemishes and it feels too heavy under my eyes sometimes.
3. Powdered with the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in Transparent which Tanya Burr raves about a lot. I've used this powder since high school and continue to repurchase it. Cheap cheerful. Applied using the Real Techniques powder brush.
4. Bronzer is one from ALDI that was bought from one of their special buys but I'm sure you can find similar stuff in Boots or Superdrug. Applied with the Real Techniques kabuki brush which I think is discontinued as I bought it for 99p from Home and Bargains. But I'm sure this is the same brush only retractable.
5. Natural Collection blusher in Peach Melba probably the cheapest blusher on the high street at £1.99 but is a very hyped product in the blogersphere and lasts longer than most of my others. Applied with the Real Techniques blush brush.
6. Highlighter to add some light back into my now very matte face. This Benefit high beam was gifted to my from my mum's friend who no longer wanted it, didn't work for her but does for me.
7. Finally finish with MUA Pro-Base Fixing Mist which adds some life back into my skin and leaves it looking like skin rather than matteness.
Budget Eyes:
1. I applied a base for the eyeshadow having oily eyelids I used my fingers and Maybelline EyeStudio Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Eyeshadow in 70 - Metallic Pomegranate.
2. Using the Real Techniques base shadow brush to apply the lightest shade in the Rimmel Quad I got this for £1 from a market stall so it may be discontinued or they have changed the packaging as mine is called Smokey Purple and there appears to be the same in the current range. Applying the lightest colour to the inner corners the darker all over the lid and mixing the top two colours I put into the crease to define it. Blending with the Real Techniques deluxe crease brush from the same set as the base. Purple eyeshadow works well with hazel eyes making them stand out.
3. Using the comb brush to tame my brows into shape I use the angled brow brush which was 99p from Home and Bargains you can use the one that comes in the Real Techniques eye kit I just prefer this one. Paired with the Natural Collection single shadow in Crushed Walnut I simply fill in my brows shape where it's sparse (which is the whole of my brows).
4. Finishing the brows with Natural Collection clear mascara acting as a hairspray for the brows to keep the hairs in place all day.
5. A coat of mascara from the pound shop which is really good actually with a plastic brush which separates my lashes and gives a good curl.
I love finding bargain makeup,
Thanks for reading,
Bekka
