So I thought I'd start this series as I love to try new products, especially ones which live up to their purpose. This week I have been loving my precious coconut oil, I stress the precious as it did cost me £10. Although it is quite pricey I believe it has so many benefits in terms of your skin, hair and even cooking! Below I am going to list the different ways in which I use this product and give an overall review on how I believe it has helped me.
UNO.
Hair: I solely bought the product with the intention of only using it in my hair, but then I did some research and found out other ways it can be of assistance. As I am a natural curly girl, my hair tends to get very dry as my hair literally eats moisture, meaning I go through a lot of products. When I added coconut oil to my hair routine I could see a visible difference in the first couple of weeks, I use it mainly as a sealant to lock the moisture in normally after I put in my leave in conditioner. I find it leaves my hair with a slight gloss and a softer texture, and it also helps to reduce my frizz.
DOS.
Skin: I only recently found out that it could be used on your body and so far I've been impressed with the results. I sometimes apply it to my face at night just before bed, I don't like to do this too often as it does leave your face quite oily which isn't the best for my skin type. However, the next day your face feels incredibly soft and plump, and as it is virgin coconut oil you can be assured there isn't any harmful ingredients within it.
TRES.
Cooking: Yesss!! Can you believe it because I couldn't. I used this for the first time when making a stir fry and substituted olive oil, it definitely has a distinct flavour but it tasted nice with what I was making. Its worth trying out as it is a healthier alternative to butter and oil.
CUATRO.
Make-up: I use this on my lips if their feeling dry or chapped overnight and the next day it leaves them feeling baby soft, who needs expensive lip balm when you can make your own at home. Also, I recently found out it can be used as a eye make up remover, I think this would be a lot better than using ordinary wipes as the oil conditions your eyelashes.
Well that was my product of the week, im definitely going to continue to find other ways in which I can benefit from it. In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed.
Until next time,
Kiana
